Unlike wooden or hollow synthetic stocks, the Carbelite design is solid throughout, making it unaffected by extreme atmospheric conditions or moisture, and capable of withstanding hard use over time. The Carbelite Classic 1-Piece Rifle Stock is designed for use with an optic, and accommodates both right- and left-handed shooters. Model 1917 production outnumbered all the Model 1903's ever manufactured. When the M1917 rifles were new, ALL of the small parts markings matched the maker of the receiver.
Made of hand-placed layers of Kevlar and Fiberglass over Graphite, the Carbelite provides the strength and durability necessary for long service life in the field. A total of more than 2 million Model 1917 rifles were manufactured by Winchester, Remington, and the Remington subsidiary plant at Eddystone, those manufacturing facilities marking their rifles with the respective names, in full. Most of the parts that are found on Model 1917 rifles have a maker mark, 'W' for Winchester, 'R' for Remington or 'E' for Eddystone. All Bell and Carlson Stocks are actually mounted to the firearm actions for which they are made before being finished in order to guarantee a proper fit.
